Ingredients:
- 6-8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts*
- ½ onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ tsp. fresh ginger, minced
- ⅓ cup grapeseed oil
- 4 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
- 4 tbsp. tamari (gluten-free soy sauce)
- 1 tbsp. brown sugar
- ½ tsp. red pepper flakes (or more for if you like heat)
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. dark sesame oil
*Or use 6-8 salmon steaks for another delicious take on this recipe!
Directions:
- To make the marinade, whisk together garlic, ginger, grapeseed oil, balsamic vinegar, tamari, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, salt, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add chopped onions and whisk again.
- Put the marinade in a large plastic zip bag. Insert chicken breasts, seal, and turn bag over several times to cover the chicken as evenly as possible. Place in refrigerator and let marinate for 5-24 hours. Turn bag occasionally.
- (If using salmon, be sure to lightly oil the grill so the fish does not stick during cooking!) Grill until grill marks have formed and chicken is cooked through (about 4-5 minutes per side). Remove from heat and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes to redistribute the juices before serving.
